As India is going to host G20 Summit in the National Capital, schools and colleges in Delhi will remain closed from tomorrow. Students will now have to go to school from Monday, September 11, 2023. The step is taken by the Delhi government to prevent unnecessary traffic inconvenience to the visiting foreign delegates. Along with schools and colleges, banks, financial institutions, offices and commercial organisation will remain close.
The Delhi government’s Department of Education has already asked schools to declare September 8 a holiday for both students and staff. The personnel of the education department have also been instructed by the Delhi government to stay in the city for these four days in case more staff is required for the G20 meeting.
At least 20 world leaders are anticipated to attend the two-day summit, which begins on Saturday. On September 9 and 10, G20 Summit will be held at the recently built Bharat Mandapam at Pragati Maidan, an international conference and exhibition center.
The Delhi government declared that all preparations for the G20 Summit are over and that the national capital is ready to receive global visitors. Leaders of the world’s top 20 economies are expected to visit India. US Vice President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, French President Emmanuel Macron, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and others are on the roster of world leaders and delegates.
Locations like Dilli Haat, Chandni Chowk, Khan Market, Connaught Place, and Malcha Marg Market are likely to have high security. 26 routes are mentioned in the MCD statement as needing special attention, including Mathura Road, Bhairon Marg, Sachivalaya Road, Purana Quila Road, Lodhi Road, Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar Marg, and Suraj Kund Road, and Mahatma Gandhi Road.
