Intellectual Lecture on 'Baba Saheb Apte: Personality and Works' Held at Langat Singh College

Under the joint auspices of the PG History Department of Langat Singh College and the History Compilation Committee, an intellectual lecture on 'Baba Saheb Apte: Personality and Works' was organized on the birth anniversary of the famous thinker, pioneer of nationalism, and historian Shri Umakant Keshav Apte (Baba Saheb Apte). This event took place in the college auditorium, with the Vice Chancellor of BRA Bihar University, Prof. Dinesh Chandra Rai, presiding over the ceremony. The keynote speaker was the former Head of the PG History Department and Dean, Prof. Ajit Kumar. The program commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp and the offering of floral tributes to the portrait of Baba Saheb Apte.
In his welcome address, Principal Prof. Omprakash Rai highlighted Baba Saheb Apte's efforts in driving social and political change, which have played a significant role in shaping the nation. He emphasized that Baba Saheb Apte will always be remembered as a great thinker of Indian culture, embodying ideals and cultural uniqueness. Prof. Rai also urged students to cultivate the habit of writing, stating that it not only aids in reading and writing but also helps them better understand their own thoughts.
The Chief Guest, Prof. Ajit Kumar, addressed the gathering by pointing out the misrepresentation of historical facts by various historians over the years. He stressed that such distortions fail to capture the diverse and multifaceted nature of India's past. Prof. Kumar underlined the importance of reviewing and reevaluating historical facts to provide a more balanced view that accommodates a wide range of perspectives.
In his presidential address, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Chandra Rai praised Baba Saheb Apte's lifelong dedication to societal upliftment and educational excellence. He noted that Apte's efforts to inspire unity and service among the youth laid a strong foundation for the future of the nation. Prof. Rai also commended the History Compilation Committee for its remarkable initiatives since 2014 in preserving historical academic heritage. He expressed confidence that the current Central Government's efforts towards cultural preservation will contribute significantly to India's goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
Head of the History Department, Prof. Pushpa Kumari, introduced the topic by discussing Baba Saheb Apte's contributions to the Quit India Movement. The program was conducted by Dr. Rajeev Kumar of the History Department, with a vote of thanks given by Dr. Santosh Anal. Additional remarks were provided by Prof. Jaikant Singh, Head of the Bhojpuri Department, and Dr. Rajeshwar Kumar, BMC Coordinator.
The event was attended by several distinguished faculty members, including Prof. Rajiv Jha, Prof. Pankaj Kumar, Prof. Rajiv Kumar, Prof. Faiyaz Ahmed, Dr. Dilip Kumar Yadav, Dr. Manish Jha, Dr. Anamika Anand, Dr. Dhirendra Kumar, Dr. Naveen Kumar, Dr. Pradeep Kumar, Dr. Imtiaz, Sujit Kumar, and Rishi Kumar, among others.
