IIM Bodh Gaya undertook the training of around 60 executives from NTPC Ltd in two batches starting on 20th November and ending on the 4th of December, 2023. NTPC Ltd. is a public sector company that produces the largest amount of thermal energy in the country and is shifting towards renewable energy sources to mitigate the risks of depleting fossil fuels. IIM Bodh Gaya is rapidly growing as a center of excellence in training programmes for executives. In the past few years, the institute has emerged as a strong management training center for public sector employees from different sectors and hierarchical levels. IIM Bodh Gaya trained senior officials of the State Health Society of Bihar, Administrators from Bihar Institute of Public Administration & Rural Development (BIPARD), Senior officials of the Water Resource Department of Bihar, Senior employees of Indian Oil Corporation, as well as over 1000 aspiring entrepreneurs at the grassroots level through the CM Udyami Yojana.
The Director of IIM Bodh Gaya pointed out that the middle management of the country is the most important resource of the country since they would be the leaders of their companies and drive the economy of the country in the near future. It is important that they found the right approach and direction to take the country forward in the next most crucial decade.
The executives, sharing their experiences, mentioned that the few days on the campus of IIM Bodh Gaya, in the land of enlightenment, helped them to come out from the narrow-focused areas of their own domains and see the organization as a whole from a higher perspective. The participants underwent sessions on Reading and Interpreting Financial Statements, Costing, Data Analysis, Creativity & Innovation, Design Thinking, Team Playing, Mindfulness at the workplace, Total Quality Management, Written and Spoken Business Communication, Legal aspects in the Energy sector, Value Creation in the marketplace, Gender sensitivity, etc., and hence were exposed to a very wide variety of topics and perspectives. The NTPC Ltd. Training programme included an outbound trip that exposed the participants who came from various states such as UP, West Bengal, Orissa, etc., to the treasures and delights of Bihar such as Rajgir and Nalanda. The participants found the story of Manjhi, the Mountain-man, and the historical significance of Nalanda university inspiring and motivating.
