St Joseph University conducts induction program for newcomers


Nagaland: St Joseph University conducted a three day induction program for UG 1st semester from July 12- 14 to educate the new students on the various policies and programs of the university.

On the first day, induction program was conducted for the department of political science, English, biotech, social work and physics. 

Vice chancellor, Dr D Gnanadurai, in his address, spoke on the new education policy and highlighted how the credit based choice system will prepare the students with employability skills. Special guest, Dr Tumbenthung Humtsoe, economics and statistics officer, government of Nagaland dwelt on career path, how to choose a career and when to change a career. 

The second session included a talk on the proceedings of academics by Kevitsalie Jerome, HoD, department of social work, followed by a briefing on the examination and evaluation system by COE and student’s life at SJU by prof Charles Ezung, dean of student affairs.

On the second day, induction program was conducted for the department of economics, management, computer science, botany, chemistry, journalism and mass communication, mathematics, psychology and counseling. 

Special guest, T Kekongchim Yimkhuing in his speech encouraged the students with his words of knowledge and wisdom and his life experiences. He said that this generation can make use of the various technology and social media which was not there during their times. 

Moanola Longchar, state 1st rank holder, HSSLC was felicitated by the university in appreciation for her hard work and determination. The university would be providing her with 75% scholarship. A short video was presented to the audience to familiarize them with the university. 

On the 3rd day induction program, the department of PAC, SJU, students from history, sociology, education, commerce and zoology attended the program. Special guest, Rev Fr Sajan Joseph, director, development association of Nagaland encouraged the students to stand where the light shines, and to keep one updated to overcome difficulties.
