A big fraud has come to the fore regarding pre-matric and post-matric scholarships in Bihar. Somewhere students are not enrolled in the school and application for the scholarship is filled, and somewhere more than the scholarship fee is taken and applications for scholarships are filled from many schools which do not even exist. These errors have come to the fore in Pre Matric, Post Matric, and Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship on the National Scholarship Portal.

The Minorities Welfare Department has written to all the districts of the state asking them to investigate this. During the CBI investigation of the applications received on the National Scholarship Portal for the financial year 2022-23, several irregularities in the schools have come to the fore.

There are various types of scholarships offered by the Minority Welfare Department for matriculation and before that. All the documents submitted by the student are verified at the school level.

The student gets the scholarship only after checking and verification by the school principal but this verification is not done by hundreds of schools. A letter has been written to the principals of all primary, middle, secondary, and high schools regarding this.

According to departmental sources, there are application errors in all the districts. About ten thousand such applications have been submitted from all over the state, in which different irregularities have come to the fore. Gopalganj, Madhepura, and East Champaran are the districts where that school is not there and the application for the scholarship has been filled. Such a school has been identified. Now the answer has been sought from the school through DEO.
