Inaugural Ceremony of the Headmaster's Training Program in Leadership and Capacity Building at IIM Ranchi


The training program for the first batch of 80 headmasters of Jharkhand’s 405 Adarsha Vidyalaya (Model Schools) has been inaugurated at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ranchi. There will be five batches of headmasters from model schools across the state. They will be going through leadership and capacity-building training in three phases spreading across the next three years. Regarding this, a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) and IIM Ranchi on September 27, 2022. In the first phase of the training program, headmasters of model schools are being trained in various themes related to leadership and capacity enhancement. The five-day training program consists of themes such as strategic planning, digital literacy, community and stakeholders’ engagement, students’ learning and development, and working in groups. The faculties of IIM Ranchi are conducting this training program. The MoU also consists of an impact assessment by IIM Ranchi to evaluate the effectiveness of the training program. 

To grace the occasion, the Secretary in the Ministry of Education (Government of Jharkhand), Mr. K. Ravi Kumar, IAS, along with the Director (JEPC), Ms. Kiran Kumar Pasi, were also present. Mr. Kumar emphasized the role of artificial embedded technology usage in today’s education system. He highlighted the role of the National Education Policy (NEP) and the necessary action that is required to sink the current education system with NEP. He expressed his expectations from the headmasters going through the training program.

Prof. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, the director of IIM Ranchi, also expressed his views on the occasion. His thrust is to make IIM Ranchi a globally oriented and locally responsive institute. Prof. Srivastava lauded the efforts of the Jharkhand Government and JEPC for enhancing the skill sets of model school headmasters. He ensured a good learning experience for the participants.

Presenting the welcome speech, Prof. Ankur Jha introduced the guests and explained the objectives of the program. Prof. T Sai Vijay presented the vote of thanks.
