IIT Guwahati's Centre of Excellence to boost Nanotech and Healthcare sectors in India


The Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati and Ministry of Electronic and Information Technology MeitY, Govt. of India in collaboration with each other have successfully achieved the goals that were set for the Centre for Excellence in Research and Development of Nanoelectronic & Theranostic Devices established in 2014.

IIT Guwahati's Centre of Excellence is boosting up the Nanotech and Healthcare devices in India. As per the press release, at the time when it was getting incepted, the IIT Guwahati and the Ministry of Electronic and Information Technology collectively planned and visualised this Centre of Excellence with long-term objectives such as the establishment of a brand-new Centre for Nanotechnology building of 10,000 sq. m. area, then Development of an array of healthcare device, Handholding of multiple startups in the area related to materials and nanoelectronics and Utility of the established facility towards a number of future activities such as INUP-I2I, SWASTHA, and other CoEs sponsored by the funding agencies in particular MeitY.

Further in the press release, Prof. T.G. Sitharam, Director, IIT Guwahati said, “It is with great pride to note that the faculty members working at IIT Guwahati’s Centre for Nanotechnology in collaboration with MeitY have worked tirelessly towards the success of establishing this pioneering Centre for Excellence. This visionary support by the MeitY has been instrumental in expanding the base of nanoelectronics inventions and innovations in the country well in line with the twin missions of GoI – ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’.”

As per the press release, the Institute is continuously supporting the Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives of the Government of India and also has signed an MoU to establish a Centre for Advanced Research on Diagnostics in Cancer
