IIM Jammu to hold a “G20 University Connect”-Engaging Young Minds, an initiative of RIS and MoEA, as a part of the Lecture Series

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu will be hosting the G20 University Connect Session- Engaging Young Minds as part of the Lecture Series on 28th August 2023 at IIM Jammu Jagti Campus. This is an initiative of Research and Innovation System (RIS) for Developing Countries and Ministry of External Affairs (MoEA) which is being organized across the country. The purpose of the University connect is to foster insightful discussions on global economic challenges and opportunities while facilitating a fruitful exchange of knowledge to guide the national youth. The event is expected to bring together distinguished personalities from various fields to discuss the themes, opportunities, and goals of India's G20 Presidency.
The Institute is also organizing events in the form of Debate Competition, Essay Writing Competition, Poster making competition, all of which is aimed at engaging the youth in activities surrounding the upcoming G20 University Connect.
The University Connect Session will begin with the premier of the official G20 Presidency 2023 video announcing the Indian Presidency. The event will be graced with the presence of some esteemed speakers, who will enlighten the students with their views on the Indian presidency of the G20 nations. The programme will feature a Special Lecture on G20 Indian Presidency by Ambassador J.K. Tripathi, Former Ambassador, Ministry of External Affairs, India moderated by Dr. Sneha Sinha, RIS, New Delhi. The IIM Jammu G20 University connect will feature a welcome address by Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, and address about the programme by Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean, Academics, IIM Jammu.
Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu expressed his enthusiasm about the upcoming event, stating, "We are happy to host this at IIM Jammu. This programme aligns perfectly with IIM Jammu's vision of becoming a global hub for academic excellence and innovation. We look forward to welcoming esteemed delegates, scholars, and experts in their respective domains to engage in meaningful discussions that will contribute to the advancement of education and research on a global scale."
Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu expressed his happiness and mentioned that “The IIM Jammu G20 University Connect Session is anticipated to draw participants from diverse academic backgrounds. This is an initiative of RIS and MoEA, which is being organized across the country. The sessions are poised to create a vibrant platform for sharing ideas, building networks, and forging new partnerships.”
A panel of diverse experts, featuring Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Jammu, Prof. Bechan Lal, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University, Jammu, Prof. Anurag Mishra, IIT Jammu, Prof. R.K. Samnotra, Director Research, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST), Jammu to be moderated by Dr. Ashish Kumar, Chairperson, Student Affairs, IIM Jammu, will be engaging in thoughtful discussions regarding the participation of youthful minds in the G20 Presidency and its broader implications.
Dr. Bijoy Rakshit, Co-Chairperson, Corporate Communication and Program Co-ordinator, IIM Jammu will be facilitating a comprehensive report on pre-event activities and will be distributing certificates on this occasion. Dr. Archana Sharma, Chairperson, EMBA will be delivering the vote of thanks at the conclusion of the day's events, recognizing the collective effort that led to the successful implementation of the programme.
The IIM Jammu G20 University Connect will provide a platform for academia, policymakers, and experts to discuss and deliberate on pressing issues related to research, innovation, and higher education. Through panel discussions, and interactive sessions, participants will explore avenues for strengthening international partnerships, promoting innovation, and addressing shared challenges in the realm of education and research.
