IIM Jammu Initiates Entrepreneurship Awareness Series Across J&K with First EAP at GDC Kunjwani

Indian Institute of Management Jammu, through its Incubation Centre, DST iTBI IIM Jammu, successfully conducted the first Entrepreneurship Awareness Program (EAP) under a five-program series planned across the region. The initiative is funded by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, and aims to build entrepreneurial awareness and strengthen the startup ecosystem at the grassroots level.
The inaugural program was hosted by Government Degree College, Kunjwani, and brought together students from a cluster of South Jammu colleges including GDC Bishnah, GDC R.S. Pura, GDC Purmandal, GDC Vijaypur, and GDC Samba. The event saw active participation from students and faculty members interested in exploring entrepreneurship as a viable and impactful career pathway.
IIM Jammu expresses its sincere appreciation to Government Degree College, Kunjwani, for hosting the program and to all participating colleges for their active involvement and support in making the first EAP a success.
The program was coordinated and managed by the IIM Jammu Incubation Team under the leadership of Dr. Pranab Ranjan Das, Chairperson Centre for Small Business Development, IIM Jammu, Dr. Muqbil Burhan – Chairperson, Centre for Entrepreneurship Innovation & Skill Development, IIM Jammu & Dr. Vivek Sharma, Chief Innovation Officer IIM Jammu.
Dr. Vivek Sharma, Chief Innovation Officer, IIM Jammu, delivered foundational sessions titled “From Idea to Opportunity: Foundations of Business Ideation” and “Formalizing Your Venture: Business Structures & Registration Pathways.” He emphasized structured ideation, validation of business concepts, and strategic planning as essential pillars for launching sustainable ventures.
The financial dimension of entrepreneurship was addressed by Mr. Rishi Gupta, a seasoned Financial Advisor, who conducted a session on “Financial Literacy for Entrepreneurs: Managing Money & Funding Smartly.” Students gained practical insights into budgeting, funding avenues, financial discipline, and smart capital utilization.
Adding an industry perspective, Mr. Divyavasu Sharma, an IIM Jammu Incubatee and Entrepreneur, led an engaging session on “Digital Growth Strategies: Marketing, Branding & Online Presence.” He highlighted the importance of digital positioning, brand identity, and leveraging online tools to scale startups effectively in today’s competitive environment.

As the first of five planned Entrepreneurship Awareness Programs across the region, the initiative marks a significant step toward empowering students with knowledge, practical tools, and mentorship pathways. The upcoming EAPs will continue to engage institutions across Jammu & Kashmir, strengthening the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in the Union Territory
With the launch at GDC Kunjwani, IIM Jammu reaffirms its commitment to nurturing young entrepreneurs, promoting self-reliance, and driving innovation-led growth across the region.
