IIM Jammu Inaugurates Education Leadership Development Training Program for College Principals of Jammu & Kashmir


The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu, known for its commitment to academic excellence, has initiated a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled, “Education Leadership Development Training Program” for College Principals of Jammu and Kashmir. The program, organized under the aegis of the Executive Education and Consultancy Division, commenced from January 29th, and will go on till Feb 2nd, 2024.

 

The inaugural session started with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the enlightening journey that lies ahead. Dr. Archana Sharma, Program Director, extended a warm welcome and elucidated on the program's objectives. Dr. Ateeque Shaikh, Chairperson of the Executive Education and Consultancy (EE & C) at IIM Jammu, provided a concise overview of the institute's role in Executive Education and Consultancy, IIM Jammu.

 

Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, shed light on the transformative journey of the Education Leadership Development Training Program. Aligned with the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020), he emphasized that it transcends being merely a program; it signifies a profound commitment to educational excellence and innovation. He reiterated that with Jammu serving as a city of temples and an education hub, hosting three Institutes of National Importance, it provides a fitting backdrop for this transformative initiative. He encouraged the participants to articulate their expectations, ensuring fulfillment by the program's conclusion. During his address, he delved into detailed insights into the IIM system, highlighted the realization of responsibilities, and stressed the importance of active participation during classroom sessions. He expressed optimism that such initiatives will pave the way for a brighter future in education, aligning with national priorities.

 

Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics at IIM Jammu, highlighted the significance of the Educational Leadership Training Program for College Principals in fostering academic excellence in Jammu and Kashmir. His address underscored the city's dual identity as the abode of temples and education, hosting institutes of national importance. He emphasized the need for collaboration to set benchmarks locally, nationally, and globally. He urged everyone to work together for nation-building and global progress.

 

The participants were given a tour of the Institute. The program aims to equip Principals and Senior faculty of colleges with essential leadership skills, aligning their vision with contemporary educational trends and the evolving needs of students and the community. Key objectives include the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) in colleges, enhancing instructional leadership, fostering effective communication, promoting cultural competence, encouraging innovation and adaptability, and instilling data-informed decision-making skills. The inaugural event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Vedika Saxena, Program Director, followed by the national anthem and a group photo.
