Buddhist women travelling from Leh meet Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir K Jain

Buddhist women from Hanu-Aryan valley of Leh today met Vice Chancellor Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain during their visit to Banaras Hindu University as part of Operation Sadhbhavna being conducted by "Forever in Operations Division" of Indian Army.
These ladies have ventured out of the Leh region for the first time in their lives as part of the National Integration tour. The delegation also visited Bharat Kala Bhawan, Vishwanath Temple and also interacted with faculty members of Dept. of Pali & Buddhist Studies at the University.
During the meeting the Vice-Chancellor asked them about their experiences in the course of their journeys. The women shared their experiences and expressed their elation on visiting Varanasi and Banaras Hindu University.
Indian Army, as a measure of Operation Sadhbhavana, is conducting a National Integration Tour starting from Leh to Delhi, Varanasi, Bodhgaya and back. In this tour 30 women from far flung areas of Kargil district of Union Territory of Ladakh are on a visit to different cities.
The tour is organised to make them aware about the rich heritage of Buddhism that flourished in Varanasi and Bodhgaya during the times of Lord Buddha.The tour is an opportunity provided to these women to explore and meet new people which can broaden their perspective in all means since these women belong to remote villages and lack exposure to the outside world.
