The training program for the first batch of 70 headmasters of Jharkhand’s 325 block-level Adarsha Vidyalayas (Model Schools) started at the Indian Institute of Management Ranchi. There will be another three batches of headmasters from the coveted model schools across the state. They are going through leadership and capacity-building training in three phases spanning the next three years. This is the first phase of the training. Last year, the headmasters of 80 CM Schools of Excellence already received similar training, starting the first phase. Regarding this, a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) and IIM Ranchi on September 27, 2022. In the first phase of the training program, headmasters of model schools are being trained in various leadership and capacity enhancement themes. The five-day training program includes strategic planning, digital literacy, community and stakeholders’ engagement, students’ learning and development, and group work. The faculties of IIM Ranchi are conducting all the sessions of this training program. According to the MoU, IIM Ranchi faculty members will also be performing the impact assessment of the training program.
On this occasion, Prof. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, Director, IIM Ranchi, also expressed his views. He aims to make IIM Ranchi a globally oriented and locally responsive institute. He reaffirmed IIM Ranchi’s dedication to empowering educational leaders and fostering positive change in the education sector. Prof. Srivastava lauded the Jharkhand Government's and JEPC's efforts to enhance the skill sets of model school headmasters. He ensured an excellent learning experience for the participants. Along with Prof. Srivastava, a team of four faculty members, including Prof. Aditya Shankar Mishra, Prof. Tata Sai Vijay, Prof. Sakshi and Prof. Ankur Jha, are supervising this ambitious project.
