The first Muzaffarpur Athletics Meet 2024 was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor of BRA Bihar University, Prof. Dinesh Chandra Rai, at LS College Ground today organised by Vivekanand Krida and Yoga Sansthan. The event saw the participation of athletes from various schools and clubs in the Muzaffarpur district.The athletics meet featured various track and field events including sprints, long jump, high jump, javelin throw, and relay races. Athletes showcased their skills and talents in front of a large audience who gathered to witness the sporting extravaganza.

The athletics meet will feature 8 different sports and a total of 95 events in three days (19-21 March, 2024), with 333 medals up for grabs. A total of 3000 athletes from various schools  and clubs are expected to participate in the meet, making it one of the largest athletic events in the region. The event aims to promote sports and athletics at the grassroots level and provide a platform for young athletes to showcase their talent. After Inaguration addressing the athletes VC Prof. Dinesh Chandra Rai praised the participants for their dedication and sportsmanship, and encouraged them to continue pursuing their passion for athletics. He emphasized the importance of sports in overall development and urged the youth to actively participate in such events. He said by bringing together athletes, coaches, and spectators to celebrate sport and competition. It will provide an opportunity for local athletes to showcase their skills and talents, while also inspiring others to get involved in sports and physical activity. The event will help foster a sense of community and camaraderie among participants, promoting a healthy and active lifestyle for all. Additionally, hosting such a meet can attract tourism and boost the local economy, as well as generate interest and support for sports development in the region. Overall, this athletics meet will play a crucial role in creating a vibrant sporting environment that benefits both individuals and the community as a whole.

Talking on the career in sports VC Prof. Rai saidand potential for growth. With the increasing popularity of sports and the rise of professional leagues and events, there are numerous avenues for individuals to pursue a successful career in sports. From playing professionally to coaching, management, sports journalism, sports medicine, sports marketing, and sports psychology, there are countless opportunities available for those passionate about sports. Prof. Rai emphasized the importance of dedication, hard work, and specialized training to excel in this competitive field. He encouraged students to explore and take advantage of the various career paths in sports and to pursue their dreams with determination and enthusiasm.

 Prof. Ompraksh Roy, Principal LS College  said in his address sports have the power to unite people from different backgrounds and bring communities together, making it a fulfilling and rewarding career choice. Lauding Organiser  Vivekand Krida and Yoga Sansthan and its President, Dr. Sanjay Kumar Sinha, IAS (Retd.) and former Director, Sports and Youth Affairs, Govt. of Bihar, Prof. Roy said that the academy provided a platform for young athletes to showcase their talent and compete at a high level. Dr. Sanjay Kumar Sinha's dedication and hard work in organizing the event were truly commendable. This event not only promoted sportsmanship and healthy competition but also helped in identifying and nurturing budding talents in various sports. Kudos to Vivekand academy and Dr. Sanjay Kumar Sinha for their efforts in promoting sports and encouraging the youth to excel in their respective fields.

Dr. Sanjay Kumar Sinha in his address praised LS college Principal Prof. Ompraksh Roy for providing LS college ground for the event, then only this mega event was possible on this larger scale. He said the meet is set to be a competitive and exciting event, with athletes from across Muzaffarpur district and beyond coming together to compete in various track and field events. The organizers are hoping that the event will help discover and nurture the next generation of sporting talent in the region. The first Muzaffarpur Athletics Meet 2024 will be a hugely  successful event that provided a platform for athletes to showcase their talent and compete in a spirit of healthy competition. The organizers and participants were lauded for their efforts in making the event a grand success.He hoped that the event will help discover and nurture the next generation of sporting talent in the region and help make Muzaffarpur a sporting hub of Bihar. Dr. Sinha also thanked sponsors for their generous support. 

Vice- Chancellor Prof. Dinesh  Chandra Rai hoisted the inaugural flag and formally announced Let the games begin! The functions marked the presence of many dignitaries, former IAS Shri Amitabh kumar, RBBM college Principal Prof. Mamta Rani, SK Shukls, Dr. Renubala, Dr. Shartendu Shekhar, Dr. Navin Kumar, Mahendra Prasad, Shiva Kumar to mention a few.
