Tamil Nadu Schools, Colleges closed in 4 districts due to heavy rains, IMD issues warning

Tamil Nadu Government has declared a holiday today for schools and colleges in 4 districts due to the heavy rains. All Tamil Nadu Schools and colleges in Thanjavur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam and Tiruvarur have been closed. Amidst the heavy rains, IMD has also predicted heavy rainfall for the southern state over the next 2 to 3 days.
The district collectors have these 4 districts of Tamil Nadu decided to declare a Holiday today for schools and colleges. Thanjavur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam and Tiruvarur have been witnessing showers since the early hours of today.
As per the Indian Meteorological Department, IMD, heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places in Nilgiris and Coimbatore.
Apart from these 4 districts, heavy rain is also expected to occur at Theni, Tiruppur, Dindigul, Erode, Salem, Karur, Namakkal, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, Tiruchirapalli, Perambalur, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Thoothukudi, Thenkasi, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu.
As per news agency ANI, light to moderate rainfall at many places with isolated thunderstorms and lightning is likely to go on over the next four days in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, as per the Chennai Regional MET Department.
The ANI report further adds that for tomorrow, September 2, heavy rain is likely to continue at isolated places over Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Theni, Dindigul, Erode, Salem, Karur, Namakkal, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur and Tiruchirapalli districts.
On September 3 and 4, 2022, heavy rain is likely to occur over Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Theni, Dindigul, Erode, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, Vellore, Ranipet and Tiruvannamalai districts.
