Rajasthan University students stir after 80% fail in semester

Students of the mathematics department at Rajasthan University on Monday protested outside the vice-chancellor's secretariat, alleging wrong evaluation of exam answer sheets, after 80% of students in the first semester failed in three subjects.

Demanding that the answer sheets be re-checked, student leader Mahesh Chaudhary said, "Nearly 80% of first-semester students at mathematics department have failed in three subjects, many scoring 3 out of 100 marks. Students who have passed the entrance test cannot be so weak in studies. We have been demanding a re-check of the copies for the last seven days."

He said that students also submitted a memorandum to the controller of examinations but their grievance has not been redressed yet.

Meanwhile, with the end of the academic session at the university, office bearers of the student union will also have to vacate their offices. The dean of student welfare has written a letter to the office bearers with instructions in this regard. The student union leaders have been given 10 days to vacate the offices.
