President Droupadi Murmu confers medals & degrees to meritorious students of Central University of South Bihar,(CUSB) Gaya


On the third day of her visit to Bihar, President Droupadi Murmu conferred medals and degrees to meritorious students of Central University of South Bihar, Gaya. President Murmu today emphasised to include the values of social welfare and philanthropy in their goals along with their individual progress. She said that efforts to achieve such overall goals would prove their education meaningful and open the doors of success.

 

Addressing the Third Convocation Ceremony of CUSB, Gaya, the President said The enterprising people or entrepreneur of the state have made their mark at the world level. She stated that establishing such global standards of progress at the local level should be the aim of all. She urged the students of South Bihar Central University to play an active role in this transformational period.

The President said that since ancient times Bihar has been known for nurturing talents. She added that on the soil of Bihar, great scholars like Chanakya and Aryabhata made revolutionary contributions in the fields of society and state system as well as mathematics and science. She said that all feel proud that the world's first democratic systems flourished on the land of Bihar.

The President said that on this sacred land Lord Mahavir and Lord Buddha had given the message of peace, non-violence, compassion and love. She added that Mahatma Gandhi gave new dimensions to their message of ‘Ahimsa Paramo Dharma’. She highlighted that the teachings of Lord Mahavir, Lord Buddha and Mahatma Gandhi are even more relevant today and taking forward this rich heritage of our country could help in world’s welfare. She said that young students are the bearers of these rich traditions. They can choose and play their role in making a better society, country and world. She urged students to include the values of social welfare and philanthropy in their goals along with their individual progress. She said that efforts to achieve such overall goals would prove their education meaningful and open the doors of success.  The President said that today, talented people of Bihar are contributing to the fourth industrial revolution in India and abroad. 

In the present scenario, excellent performance is being given by the girl students in almost all the higher educational institutions, this is a very pleasant change. It is also a reflection of India's progress in building a better society. This statement was given by Her Excellency President of India Smt. Draupadi Murmu as Visitor and Chief Guest during the third convocation ceremony held on October 20, 2023 (Friday) at Central University of South Bihar (CUSB). In his convocation address, Her Excellency the President said that I congratulate all the students of Central University of South Bihar who have received degrees. I especially appreciate the students who gave excellent performance and received gold medals. I have been told that the total number of gold medals for students who have given excellent performance in the convocation is 103, out of which our daughters have won 66 medals. Today, out of the 25 students who came on the stage and received the gold medal from me, 18 were daughters and seven were also students. All the countrymen are proud of the fact that the world's first democratic system flourished on this soil of Bihar. 

During the convocation ceremony, toppers were given medals along with degrees which include Chancellor Gold Medal, School Gold Medal, Department Gold Medal etc. Students of Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG) and M.Phil./Ph.D. level passed out during 2018, 2019 and 2020, were awarded the degrees during the 3rd Convocation. It is worth mentioning that out of 103 gold medals; girl students have impressively secured 66 medals. Also, some students have secured more than one gold medal from different categories. The students awarded three gold medals from three categories (chancellor gold medal, school gold medal and department gold medal) From the academic session 2016-18, Ankita Kumari (M.Sc. Life Science) and Sanya Darakhshan Kishwar (Integrated B.Sc. LL.B. (Hons.) from the academic session 2016-18. Similarly, Farzana Naushin (M.Sc. Biotechnology) and Navneet Kumar (Integrated B.A. LL.B. (Hons) from the academic session 2017-19 and Prachi Kumar (Integrated B.Sc. B.Ed) and Shivam Panday (M.Sc. Computer Science) from the academic session 2018-20 has secured three medals in three categories. The students secured two gold medals namely school gold medal and department gold medal from the academic session 2016-18 are Sudha Sinha (Integrated B.Sc. B.Ed.), Ayush Anand (MA Communication & Media), Kumari Ankita (MA English), Rabiya Fatima (MA Psychology), Rita Kumari (MA Sociology) and Priyanshu Priya (MSc Computer Science). From the academic session 2017-19 the students Roma Kumari (Integrated B.Sc. B.Ed.), Elizabeth Chirayil (MA Psychology), Sourabh Tiwari (MA Communication and Media Studies), Afsha Parwez (MA Development Studies), Kumari Pragya (MA Hindi) and Nimisha Ann Jose (MSc Statistics) have secured two gold medals namely school gold medal and department gold medal. From the academic session 2016-18 the two gold medals namely, school gold medal and department gold medal are secured by Robin Vincent (Integrated B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), Prerna Priya (MA Development Studies), Aparna Kumari (MA English), Ravi Ranjan Kumar (MA Journalism and Mass Communication), Peeyush Anand (MA Psychology), Sanjay Kumar Mohanty (MSc Bioinformatics), Twinkle Gorai (MSc Chemistry) and Aditi (Master of Commerce).

 

It should be noted that after the first convocation held on 26 September 2013, and the second convocation held on 27 March 2018 at the rented premises of BIT Patna, the third convocation is held at the permanent campus. Overall, a total of 103 students who topped at Under Graduate (UG) and Post Graduate courses during the year 2018, 2019 and 2020 awarded gold medals. For the year 2018, two (02) students were given Chancellor's Gold Medal, eight (08) students were given School Gold Medal and 22 students were given Department Gold Medal. Similarly, for the year 2019, two (02) students were given Chancellor’s Gold Medal, eight (08) students were given School Gold Medal and 22 students were given Department Gold Medal. For the year 2020, two (02) students were given Chancellor's Gold Medal, ten (10) students were given School Gold Medal and 27 students were given Department Gold Medal.
