NEET PG admission for this academic year is yet to happen. As per the update, the Supreme Court has listed the EWS quota matter for hearing on August 2, 2022 and it is also not clear whether the verdict will come or not. Once this matter is resolved, NEET PG admission is expected to begin.
National Eligibility cum Entrance Test PG or NEET PG admissions for this academic year are yet to be conducted through NEET PG counseling 2022. As the reports suggest NEET PG counseling 2022 is expected to start from September 1, 2022, candidates on the same income criteria and EWS quota have started asking questions. As per the recent update, on August 2, 2022, the Supreme Court has now listed the EWS quota matter for hearing.
For almost a year, the matter of admission in NEET PG and EWS quota has been in the court. The petition challenging the EWS quota in AIQ admissions was filed by some NEET PG candidates. This move of the government is not in favor of meritorious students, such an argument was given by the candidates.
The court sought an explanation from the government as to why the same income criterion is being used for both EWS and OBC quota. Here, the point under the scanner has to do with the Rs. 8 lakh annual family income.
It is to be noted that when this issue arose during NEET PG counseling 2021, the Supreme Court allowed counseling to begin as per the extant guidelines. The same was done so as not to affect the academic year which was already facing losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the final decision is yet to be taken by the Supreme Court.
