Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) organised a Blood Donation Camp


The National Service Scheme (NSS), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) organised a Blood Donation Camp along with a general awareness campaign on blood donation at the gate no. 7 of the university today. JMI Vice Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar inaugurated the camp in the presence of JMI Registrar Prof. Nazim Husain Jafri, DSW Prof. Ibrahim, Chief Proctor Prof. Atiqur Rahman, Deans, HoDs and other officials of the university.

The camp witnessed a huge success as 157 people including teachers and students registered for donation and 92 people donated blood on an inaugural day.

The Vice-Chancellor appreciated the efforts of the NSS, the organising team and the high spirited volunteers for blood donation. She also urged students to have a healthy diet so they can donate in the next blood donation drive as well.

The Blood Donation Camp having the motto “Donate Blood Save Life” was organised by the university in response to the 15 day drive by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, to motivate voluntary blood donors. The drive started from today on the occasion of birthday of Hon'ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi. The purpose of the drive is to minimize the huge gap between the blood units required and blood units available in the country. This drive will continue till 1st October 2022. The 1st of October will, thereafter, be celebrated as Voluntary Blood Donation Day in the country.

Prof. Sanjay Singh, Dean, Faculty of Dentistry, Mr Vikqar H. Siddiqui, Coordinator, NSS and Dr Abid Hussain, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, Assistant DSW, Program Officer, NSS & the Nodal officer of the Blood Donation Drive played important role for the successful organisation of the event which was attended by teaching & non-teaching staff members of the university in large numbers.
