National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) and IIT signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate for research and development (R&D) in the areas of civil engineering, road construction, planning and design.

IIT Guwahati is known for its R&D in civil engineering, road construction, planning, and design and will help NHIDCL innovate in the space.

The MoU was signed by Professor Parameswar K lyer, Director of IIT Guwahati and Chanchal Kumar, Managing Director of NHIDCL through a Video Conferencing session on 25 May 2023.

Currently, NHIDCL (a CPSE under the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Government of India) is actively seeking and promoting innovative technologies to address the challenges and promote technological innovations in the field of construction of highways under extreme climatic and geographical conditions.
