IIM Ranchi formally welcomed the Batch of 2025 through its Inauguration Ceremony held today at the Vivekananda Auditorium on campus. The event marked the beginning of the academic journey for students of MBA, MBA-HR, MBA-BA, and Ph.D. programmes.

The ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Major General Paramvir Singh Dagar, VSM. Alongside him, the Director of IIM Ranchi, Prof. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, and the Dean (Academics), Prof. Tanusree Dutta, inaugurated the ceremony with the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the dispelling of darkness through knowledge.

Addressing the incoming cohort, Prof. Srivastava welcomed the students with a message that stressed the need to look beyond numbers and strive for meaningful institutional impact. He spoke of IIM Ranchi’s ongoing efforts to foster integrated learning, encourage socially conscious leadership, and build a globally minded academic culture. Citing the growing faculty strength and the introduction of multidisciplinary courses, he emphasized the value of openness, curiosity, and academic discipline. He also highlighted the creation of a Student Welfare Fund, a student-centric initiative aimed at redirecting fines collected for policy violations toward constructive support.

Major General Dagar’s keynote address drew from his distinguished experience in the Indian Army. In a deeply reflective and motivating speech, he urged students to embrace discipline not merely as a rule, but as a way to achieve consistency when motivation inevitably fluctuates. He encouraged them to cultivate self-awareness, pursue continuous self-improvement, and remain grounded in humility. Leadership, he reminded the batch, is rooted in execution, collaboration, and ethical intent.

The ceremony concluded with interaction sessions between the students and the Deans, and Programme Chairs.

So far, more than 400 students have enrolled in the Batch of 2025 across programmes, representing diverse academic, professional, and geographic backgrounds. The Inauguration sets in motion a carefully designed orientation programme that will help students transition into life at IIM Ranchi through sessions on pedagogy, alumni insights, industry engagement, and student-driven initiatives.

With the Inauguration Ceremony, IIM Ranchi reaffirmed its commitment to shaping thoughtful, ethical, and future-ready leaders, prepared not only for corporate success but for meaningful contributions to society.
