IIM Ranchi commemorated Constitution Day with an insightful and engaging event organised by The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Centre for Leadership, Policy and Governance (ABVCLPG) that reflected on the enduring values of the Indian Constitution.
The program began with a warm welcome by Prof. Ankur Jha, Chairperson ABVCLPG, IIM Ranchi. The event featured a thought-provoking keynote address by Dr. Syamala Kandadai, Associate Professor of Law at the National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi. Prof. Amit Sachan, Dean of Executive Education and Consulting at IIM Ranchi, highlighted the significance of Constitution Day in emphasizing the importance of the Constitution as the cornerstone of India’s democracy and its pivotal role in promoting values such as justice, equality, and fraternity.
Dr. Kandadai, in her keynote address, referred to the Indian Constitution as a “living document” that continues to evolve with societal changes while staying anchored in its foundational principles. Drawing parallels between the Indian Constitution and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), she emphasized the global relevance of the values enshrined in the Indian Constitution.
To further foster awareness and engagement, IIM Ranchi organized several competitions, including an essay writing contest on the theme “Word of Liberty” and a Constitution Chronicle Quiz. The winners of these contests were recognized and felicitated for their intellectual engagement and commitment to the principles of the Constitution.
The celebration of Constitution Day at IIM Ranchi underscored the institute’s commitment to promoting critical thinking, intellectual engagement, and the values enshrined in the Indian Constitution. This event reaffirmed IIM Ranchi’s dedication to inspiring the next generation of leaders to uphold the principles of justice, equality, and fraternity that form the foundation of India’s democratic ethos.
