IIM Jammu opens transit off-Campus in Leh-Ladakh at the University of Ladakh with signing of the MoU

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Ladakh, for Academic Cooperation and Faculty Exchange, Joint Research, and other relevant areas of mutual interest. As part of the MoU, IIM Jammu opens a Transit off Campus in Ladakh at the University of Ladakh. The MoU was signed by Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, and Prof. S.K. Mehta, Vice-Chancellor, University of Ladakh, Leh in presence of Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu, Prof. Ashok Sharma, Registrar, Dr. Jigmet Stobdan, Assistant Professor of Commerce, Dr. Amjad Ali Abbasi, Principal GDC, Drass, University of Ladakh, and other faculty and administrative staff of both the Institutes.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu said, today is a historic day for IIM Jammu as the University of Ladakh has agreed to give space in the University of Ladakh Campus for the opening of the Transit Off-Campus in Leh. We will open the Transit Off-Campus in Ladakh soon. Both Institutions have agreed to work in the areas of Academic Development, Promotion of Entrepreneurship, Executive Education, Skill Development, Organizing Joint Conferences, Short-Term Education Programmes, Research, Boot Camps, and various other areas. The collaboration between both Institutes will lead to meaningful outcomes in the interest of the stakeholders and lead to sustainable growth and development for the regions of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. S.K. Mehta, Vice Chancellor, University of Ladakh, Leh said that the collaboration with IIM Jammu will help us to develop our competence in many key areas ranging from the development of educational and training programs, long-range planning, development of entrepreneurship, better exposure for our faculty, students, and Institutional development. The collaboration between the two reputed Institutes will give a leading edge to the research output of the University of Ladakh. This partnership will lead to the significant exchange of synergies between both Institutes.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu said that these collaborations are a vital part of IIM Jammu’s national endeavours and these will be helpful in fostering the advancement in teaching, research, cultural understanding as well as the reputation of both the institutes through student exchange, faculty exchange, technology transfer, organizing of Joint Conferences and Boot Camps, Entrepreneurship, and research programs. The Institute along with the University of Ladakh will try to leverage the best of this partnership by working in the continued interest of the people of Ladakh, Jammu, and Kashmir and thereby paving the path for sustainable development for the nation and the globe.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Ashok. K. Sharma, Registrar, University of Ladakh said that the signing of the MoU will open new doors for collaboration between both Institutes on various key areas and thereby paving the path for the growth and development of the University of Ladakh, and the union territory of Ladakh.
The MoU will facilitate both the Institution with regards to Faculty exchange and collaboration, student exchange, joint organizing of workshops, sports activities, interactive sessions, short-term education programs to promote research and teaching collaborations, publishing and briefing of papers, research reports, organizing cultural exchange programs, also explore possibilities of joint sports carnivals, and providing internship opportunities to students of both the Institutes. In addition, IIM Jammu, and the University of Ladakh will collaborate with each other to offer courses and award certificates in the focus areas of mutual interest, jointly promote research in interdisciplinary areas, exchange information on teaching, learning material, and other literature relevant to their educational and research programs. The virtual tour of the upcoming campus was also showcased during the event. The MoU signing was followed by a group photo session, lunch, and a visit to the IIM Jammu permanent campus at Jagti by the delegates of the University of Ladakh
