IIM Jammu IFAC-2023: “Reimagining Finance, Accounting, and Banking in A World Under Reset” closes on a grand note

The International Finance and Accounting Conference (IFAC-2023) on the theme, “Reimagining Finance, Accounting, and Banking in A World Under Reset” organized by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), concluded on a grand note after two days of insightful discussions and networking opportunities. The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries and led by the visionary Prof. B.S. Sahay, underscored IIM Jammu's remarkable contributions to the conference's resounding success. The two-day conference concluded with a grand closing ceremony that exemplified the essence of knowledge sharing, collaboration, and academic excellence.
The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Praveen Kumar, Conference Chair at IIM Jammu, who extended heartfelt gratitude to all the distinguished dignitaries and enthusiastic participants, creating an atmosphere of appreciation and camaraderie.
Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean of Academics, IIM Jammu, took the podium to share his profound insights. He emphasized that conferences are not only venues for the dissemination of information but also for reimagining and embracing change. He further reinforced the significance of remaining receptive to novel concepts, emphasizing that the academic community must continuously discover and adopt new paradigms. He highlighted the value of assistance and collaboration, urging scholars to seek assistance from their peers without hesitation. He urged participants to maintain a robust research pipeline, foster social capital, and facilitate faster growth and collaboration.
Prof. B.S Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, captivated the audience with interesting anecdotes from his own life and academic journey. He emphasized the vital role that participants play in the success of conferences and the importance of integrating theory and practice in education. He in his address underscored the importance of passion in teaching and the need for educators to be fully engaged with their work on mental, emotional, and physical levels. He also encouraged participants to share their personal experiences.
Industry professionals and academics alike expressed gratitude for the conference's valuable networking opportunities and thanked IIM Jammu for their support throughout the event's two-day duration.
Dr. Ashish Kumar, Co-Chair, IIM Jammu, presented the Conference report and Best Paper Award. He also unveiled the eagerly awaited dates for “IFAC 2024” and disclosed the theme of the forthcoming conference, building anticipation for the next conference.
Concluding the remarkable two-day conference, Dr. Harsha Jariwala, Co-Chair, IIM Jammu delivered the Vote of Thanks. She expressed her deep appreciation to Prof. B.S Sahay for his unwavering support, Prof. Jabir Ali for his intellectual contributions, the global panel of panel judges for their invaluable assessment, and the dedicated faculty and participants. She eagerly anticipated the reunion of this vibrant academic community at next year's conference. Present on the occasion were Dr. Rambalak Yadav, Chairperson, Research, IIM Jammu.
The second day included engaging sessions by Dr. Harsha Jariwala ( IIM Jammu), Dr. Mosab I Tabash (Al Ain University, UAE), Dr. Ashish Kumar ( IIM Jammu), Dr. Satish Chandra Tiwari (ICFAI Business School, Hyderabad), Dr. Pranith Kumar Roy (IIM Raipur), Dr. Nenavath Sreenu (Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal), Dr. Harish Singla (NICMAR, University, Pune), Dr Pankaj Agrwal (XLRI), Dr. Eshika Aggarwal (IIM Jammu), Dr. Arunava Bandyopadhyay (IMI, Kolkata), Dr. Pooja Kumari (IIM Visakhapatnam), Dr. Sarbjit Singh (IIM Jammu), Dr Manu Bansal (IIM Jammu).
Out of over 600 submissions received, a notable 500 were selected for presentation across five prominent themes encompassing finance & economics, accounting & banking, fintech, financial literacy & inclusion, and related fields. Among these, 100 papers were presented in offline mode at the IIM Jammu campus, while 400 papers were presented online. The conference featured an impressive 47 tracks, attracting a robust participation of 650 delegates. This included 120 participants who engaged in the pre-conference workshop, further enhancing the depth of knowledge exchange. The valedictory program was convened on the second day following the successful completion of all presentations.
