IIM Jammu Hosts Meeting of Partner Institutions for LEAD Initiative as part of Nation Building


Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu hosted a meeting at its Jagti Campus for, The LJK Economic Growth and Development Dialogue (LEAD) with its esteemed partner institutions on 22nd Feb 2024.

Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director IIM Jammu, extended heartfelt best wishes to LEAD for its future endeavours. Assuring unwavering cooperation and support, he reiterated the Institute's steadfast commitment to driving positive change and innovation within the region. He on the momentous occasion stated, "It is a momentous occasion for IIM Jammu to host this gathering of esteemed partners for the LEAD initiative. As an institution committed to the growth, development, and socio-economic progress of the Union Territories of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, we are proud to play a pivotal role in fostering collaboration and driving sustainable development in the region."

During the session, Shri Manish Ahluwalia, Director of LEAD, presented a comprehensive review of the remarkable events held in the preceding year, highlighting impactful initiatives such as the Youth Conclave, Homestay Business Workshop, InnoLEAD Startup Masterclass, Seminar on Cooperative Sector, and the grand Mahotsav 2023. These endeavours underscored LEAD's unwavering commitment to catalysing sustainable growth across diverse sectors within the region. A significant announcement was made regarding the upcoming SUYOG: The LJK Opportunity Summit, aimed at showcasing opportunities available for youth across various sectors. The inaugural event, focusing on the Tourism sector, is scheduled for March 21st and is poised to be a beacon of inspiration and empowerment for aspiring young entrepreneurs and seekers.

Prof. S. K. Mehta, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ladakh, pledged the university's unwavering support toward advancing research initiatives, fostering innovation, and nurturing talent to address the region's evolving needs.

Furthermore, discussions on research initiatives to capitalize on opportunities within the Union Territories of Ladakh, Jammu, and Kashmir were held, emphasizing the role of academic institutions in spearheading these initiatives. To take this further, LEAD and the University of Ladakh signed an MoU at IIM Jammu for collaboration in areas of investment promotion, sustainable development, and economic growth in the U.T of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.

LEAD, a pioneering platform, is a citizen's initiative of like-minded individuals and professionals working on the promotion of business investments towards the sustainable development of the Union Territories of Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir. LEAD also provides a forum for constructive dialogue on various issues related to the growth and development of the region. Members of the LEAD Core Team, including Shri Surinder Mohan Gupta, Shri Rajesh Gupta, Shri Sat Sharma, Shri Harinder Gupta, Shri Rajeev Gupta, and other sector coordinators, were present during the session. 

A short film on the "Making of IIM Jammu: Brick by Brick,” was shown. The inaugural ceremony As IIM Jammu continues its journey, it remains dedicated to fostering leadership, innovation, and societal transformation.
