IIM Jammu Commemorates Veer Bal Diwas with patriotic fervor


The Indian Institute of Management Jammu (IIM) Jammu observed the Veer Bal Diwas at Its Jagti Campus and paid homage to the sacrifices made by Sri Guru Gobind Singh’s sons Sahibzadas Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji. On the day of the Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi announced that 26th December will be observed as ‘Veer Bal Diwas’, to mark the martyrdom of Sri Guru Gobind Singh’s sons Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji.

Veer Bal Diwas, a day dedicated to the memory of the young warriors, holds immense significance in Sikh history. The sons of Sikh Guru Guru Gobind Singh Ji, displayed unparalleled courage and sacrifice during a tumultuous period, becoming a source of inspiration for generations to come.

The event at IIM Jammu aimed to honor their legacy by organizing a movie screening that depicted the extraordinary courage and unwavering commitment of these young warriors. The attendees, including Prof. B.S. Sahay, Dr. Ashish Kumar, Chairperson, Student Affairs, IIM Jammu, Cmdr Kesavn Baskkaran, CAO, IIM Jammu and Shri Arup Bhattacharya, AO Academics, IIM Jammu, participated in the event to pay tribute to the spirit of Veer Bal Diwas.

Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, expressed his admiration for the courage and sacrifice of Guru Gobind Singh Ji's four Sahibzadas. He highlighted the importance of remembering and imbibing the values exhibited by these young heroes in today's challenging times and underscoring the importance of acknowledging and celebrating the contributions of these young warriors in shaping the course of history.

Dr.Ashish Kumar, Chairperson, Student Affairs, Cmdr Kesavan Baskkaran, CAO, IIM Jammu and Shri Arup Bhattacharya, AO Academics, IIM Jammu, shared insights into the historical context of Veer Bal Diwas and emphasized the significance of preserving and passing on the rich heritage of sacrifice to the younger generation.

The movie screening served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by the Sahibzadas and aimed to inspire the IIM Jammu community to uphold the values of courage, righteousness, and selfless service. IIM Jammu remains dedicated to fostering an environment that values cultural heritage and instills a sense of responsibility and leadership in its students.
