The 37th Annual Convocation of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) was held on February 20, 2024 at 09:30 am at IGNOU Campus, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi. Hon’ble Vice President of India Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar. He was the chief guest at IGNOU headquarters and delivered the convocation speech. The main program of the convocation ceremony was broadcast live on Gyan Darshan channel. The function was held simultaneously in 36 regional centers across the country. Overall, 308584 students obtained degrees/diplomas in various disciplines, out of which 35 students received gold medals for outstanding performance in the respective disciplines. Cash prizes were also given to the meritorious students in various categories.

Regional Center Patna also held a convocation ceremony at Premchand Rangshalla, Rajendra Nagar, Patna on the occasion. Prof. Krishna Chandra Sinha, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Nalanda Open University, Nalanda graced the occasion as the chief guest and addressed the convocation ceremony and distributed certificates to the students.

On the occasion, he highlighted the development of IGNOU over the decades, appreciated IGNOU's efforts in bringing education to every doorstep in the country, stressed the equality of traditional and distance learning methods of education and the students their credentials and potential Motivated to prove and asked them to work miracles in whatever field they choose.

A total of 18075 students qualified for the degree/diploma. Out of them, 929 students personally attended the convocation and received their degrees/diplomas.  Vaishali Kumari, a student of the College Learners' Assistance Centre, TPS under Patna Regional Centre was awarded the gold medal by the Hon'ble Vice-President for obtaining first place in Post Graduate Psychology. Besides, Vaishali Kumari was awarded the ‘Prof. S.K. G.S. Ram Reddy Memorial Gold Medal’.
