BITS Pilani allows students to take a year off from college to build their own startups


Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani has made an encouraging move this year. The university has now allowed its own students and faculty members to take a year off from the college to build their own ventures.

As per the Money Control report, the students were sent a policy document and it mentioned that in case the student decides to take a year off from the college to pursue entrepreneurship on a full-time basis then their application would have to be approved by the Dean of the University. Students and users on Twitter have been applauding the move made by the deemed university.  

Another one said, “BITS Pilani has allowed students to take a year off from college to build their startups. Wonderful initiative! More such colleges are needed. Would give a breathing space to the students to let their creativity out.”

Many on Twitter are elated and amazed by the decision of the university to make such a move which will motivate and encourage the current and future generations Further the university allows the students who are going to pursue entrepreneurship to use their address in the institute to register for the company with permission and this facility is open to those students whose firms have been funded and organised by Pilani Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Society, which is actually BITS Pilani’s official tech business incubator as mentioned in the Money Control report
