The Bihar cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has granted its approval for two significant measures. Firstly, the cabinet has greenlit the recruitment of 69,692 teachers to serve in government schools across the state. This recruitment process will be overseen by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) and will commence once the ongoing recruitment of 1.70 lakh teachers by BPSC is completed.
Additionally, the cabinet has approved a substantial 100 percent increase in the monthly honorarium for approximately 30,000 individuals working as 'Siksha Sewaks' and 10,000 individuals serving as 'Vikas Mitras' in various roles within Bihar.
According to S Siddharth, the Additional Chief Secretary, "The cabinet's decision to recruit 69,692 teachers for different classes through the BPSC is a significant step to bolster the education system in Bihar. This process will follow the completion of the current recruitment of 1.70 lakh teachers by the BPSC."
Furthermore, Siddharth explained, "The cabinet has also approved a 100 percent hike in the monthly honorarium for 'Siksha Sewaks' and 'Vikas Mitras.' As a result, approximately 9,825 Vikas Mitras working under the SC and ST Welfare Department in the state's panchayats will now receive a monthly honorarium exceeding Rs 25,000, a substantial increase from the previous Rs 13,700."
In addition to this, 'Shiksha Sewaks' will now receive Rs. 22,000 per month, doubling their previous honorarium of Rs. 11,000, and they will also benefit from an annual increment of 5 percent following this enhancement.
It is worth noting that the Bihar Public Service Commission is currently conducting a recruitment drive for 1.70 lakh candidates for Bihar School Teachers. The Commission conducted the Bihar TRE 2023 for TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher), PGT (Post Graduate Teacher), and Primary Teacher from August 24 to 26, 2023. The results of the TRE 2023 are expected to be announced by mid-October, as confirmed by BPSC Chairman Atul Prasad.
