BHU to institute two new scholarships for the students of Chemistry.

Banaras Hindu University is instituting two new scholarships for the students of Chemistry. The university has received a donation of Rs. 10 lakh under the Pratidana initiative to establish these scholarships, slated to be awarded from the next academic session. Mr. Madan Mohan Kayastha and his wife Mrs. Santosh Kayastha have made the donation to start the scholarships. Mr. Kayastha is an alumnus of Banaras Hindu University and had earned his M.Tech. in Industrial Chemistry in the year 1951.
Mrs. and Mr. Kayastha had also made a donation of Rs. 20 lakh in the month of December last year to institute four scholarships of Rs. Five lakh each, two for Chemistry and two for Law. The donation was made in the memory of their parents.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Suhdir Kumar Jain, during an interaction with the donors at his official residence on Wednesday, expressed gratitude for their commitment towards Banaras Hindu University and their spirit of giving back to the society. He said that their attachment with the university and the students is remarkable.
Director, Institute of Science, Prof. Sanjay Kumar hailed the initiative of Kayastha family to start new scholarships in BHU.
Dean, Faculty of Science, Prof. S. M. Singh mentioned that the scholarship will encourage excellence and competitiveness among students. Prof. Maya Shankar Singh, Head, Department of Chemistry, also praised the donors for their endeavor to support the cause of science.
Mr. Madan Mohan Kayastha expressed that it was a momentous occasion for him and his family that Banaras Hindu University has acknowledged their gesture of support and regard in form of donation. He hoped that the scholarships will help students in their pursuit of education.
Sh. Manoj Kumar Pandey, Joint Registrar, University Advancement, said that the remarkable contribution of Mr. Madan Mohan Kayastha and his wife, will act as a beacon of hope for those seeking knowledge and striving for excellence. Sh. R. K. Bordia, and Ms. Charu Bordia were also present on the occasion.
