BHU starts free classes for SC Category students under Dr. Ambedkar Centre of Excellence for Civil Service Exam

Banaras Hindu University welcomed the Civil Services aspirants from the Scheduled Caste category who have been selected to avail free coaching under the Dr. Ambedkar Centre of Excellence. The initiative of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, will provide coaching to 100 candidates to prepare for the Civil Services (Prelims & Mains) examinations.
Speaking at the inauguration function of the coaching classes at Malaviya Centre of Ethics & Human Values, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain exhorted the selected candidates to give their best and benefit from the facility. He said that it is not merely a coaching for competitive exams but an initiative which will prepare students for future life. He urged them to not confine themselves to gaining theoretical knowledge only but to also work hard on building their personalities and developing life skills too. We want you to be successful in life and not just in exams. So, give your best and strive for a successful life, so that we at BHU feel proud that you were prepared and groomed at this centre, said Prof. Jain. He said that success can’t be measured just on the basis of performance in exams or the position one holds, but also on whether someone is contributing or not to the community, society and the country. He exuded confidence that the Dr. Ambedkar Centre of Excellence, BHU, will not only prepare coaching for civil services exams but will also be able to reflect in its functioning the ideas proposed in the National Education Policy for holistic development of students. The Vice-Chancellor lauded the efforts and hard work of the DACE team led by Coordinator Prof. R N Kharwar for implementation of the program as per the schedule.
Registrar Prof. Arun Kumar Singh said that BHU has earned all round laurels and appreciation for the pace and quality with which it has implemented the Dr. Ambedkar Centre of Excellence initiative. He said that the selected candidates will have a unique opportunity of interacting with subject experts and faculty members in BHU, professionals, mentors, as well as with bureaucrats. This will help you develop the core skills necessary for being successful in competitive exams, added Prof. Singh.
Controller of Examinations, Prof. S K Upadhyaya said it is a matter of excitement and happiness that a new beginning is being made in Banaras Hindu University which is the living embodiment of Mahamana’s vision. He said that the team of the centre has worked really hard be it conduct of entrance exams, declaration of results or counseling and that hard work has paid well in terms of timely start of the classes. Prof. Upadhyaya wished success to the candidates.
Delivering the welcome address Prof. R. N Kharwar, Coordinator, Dr. Ambedkar Centre of Excellence, explained the journey of the centre so far. He said that the Government of India has launched the scheme and BHU has implemented the programme and is providing the necessary infrastructure, now it is up to the students on how well they utilize this opportunity. He said BHU is offering them a very good and vibrant atmosphere to study and prepare for the civil services exams and they must make the most of it. He expressed confidence that those taking classes in DACE, BHU, will achieve success and make the institution proud.
The inauguration function saw Directors of various institutes, Deans of faculties, Heads of Departments, faculty members, officers, staff and a large number of students in attendance. Prof. Sangeeta Pandit, Faculty of Performing Arts, conducted the programme. Prof. R. N. Kharwar delivered the vote of thanks.
Ramesh Nigam, Assistant Registrar, Dr. Ambedkar Centre of Excellence, informed that classes for the centre are being conducted in the Human Resources Development Centre of BHU.
Dr. Ambedkar Centre of Excellence scheme was launched nationwide from BHU in April this year. Banaras Hindu University is one of the central universities where the centre has been established for which the varsity signed an MoU with Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, New Delhi.
