BHU launches visiting faculty program dedicated to Darbhanga Naresh Rameshwar Singh

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) Under the Institution of Eminence scheme of Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, is strengthening its academic and research collaborations by establishing new partnerships with prestigious institutions. In this endeavor, BHU has launched the "Darbhanga Naresh Rameshwar Singh Visiting Faculty Program." This initiative is designed to promote close academic and research connections with leading institutions, especially those ranked within the top 20 in the NIRF rankings.

The Darbhanga Naresh Rameshwar Singh Visiting Faculty Program extends a unique opportunity to faculty members from top-ranking institutions to serve as visiting faculty at BHU for a full academic year. These visiting faculty members are expected to impart one complete course per semester and interact with students and faculty members for collaborative contributions to BHU's academic environment. Each visiting faculty will be assigned a teacher from the host department at BHU, who will facilitate the visiting faculty’s integration into the academic and research community and provide local support. These visiting faculty members will be considered on "deputation" status and will be designated as Rameshwar Singh Visiting Professor, Rameshwar Singh Visiting Associate Professor, or Rameshwar Singh Visiting Assistant Professor.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain expressed that the scheme aims to provide a platform where exceptional talents from other prestigious institutions collaborate with BHU's faculty members to generate new knowledge. This initiative not only enriches the diverse academic and research atmosphere at Banaras Hindu University but also paves the way for mutual growth and excellence.

Prof. Sanjay Kumar, Coordinator, Institution of Eminence, BHU, said that the program is dedicated to the memory of the eminent figure, H.E. Sh. Rameshwar Singh, the former ruler of Darbhanga, who left an indelible mark on the establishment of Banaras Hindu University (BHU). Notably, Raja Rameshwar Singh made substantial contributions as one of the initial donors, provided leadership for raising funds from other princely states, and assumed the role of BHU's first Chancellor. His unwavering support, both as a benefactor and in presiding over the Hindu Society entrusted with BHU's formation, is commemorated through this scheme.
